Shift EDU

ICT integration in all spheres of activity and digital skills are important factors for the development of any country in the information age.

The dynamic pace of changes, including on the job market (the expansion of the ICT sector; the growing demand for engineers and data analysts, for digital skills – a key competence for the 21st century) and in the technological landscape (IoT, AI, big data ), draw new expectations for educational systems around the world. The Republic of Moldova faces a pronounced gap between the required ICT skills and the low level of digital literacy. This disadvantage excludes many citizens from an ICT-based society and economy, reducing their access to public and social services, which can be requested more and more online, and Moldova’s possibility to participate in the global digital economy.

Despite some progress at the level of policies, investments in infrastructure and curriculum development for ICT specialties, the results regarding the use of technologies to improve management and learning processes in schools are unsatisfactory. Although most educational institutions are equipped with information and communication technologies, a good part of them are outdated and less used in teaching and learning.

In this context, the project aims to increase the number of young men and women from vocational technical education who possess relevant skills for the job market.
